Telepresence robotic technology support for social connectedness during treatment of children with cancer

نویسندگان

چکیده

Children with cancer experience fragmented school attendance during treatment. Telepresence robots that connect them treatment periods were explored through an intervention involving participant observation followed by semi-structured interviews from 2020–22 children cancer, their class teachers, and classmates. We used abductive approach, inspired the Agential Realism theory Situational Analysis. The use of telepresence in education enables hospitalized to actively participate real-time social activities However, consistent monitoring is necessary ensure success this integration process as classmates can lose interest providing support a child cancer.

Assessing Mobile Robotic Telepresence Based On Measures of Social Telepresence

The feedbacks obtained regarding the sense of presence from pilot users operating a Mobile Robotic presence (MRP) system to visit a simulated museum are reported in this paper. The aim is to investigate how much the perception of system’s usefulness and ease of use is affected by operators’ sense of social telepresence (presence) in the remote location. Therefore, scenarios of visiting a museum...

Some Issues on Integrating Telepresence Technology into Industrial Robotic Assembly

Since the 1940s, many promising telepresence research results have been obtained. However, telepresence technology still has not reached industrial usage. As human intelligence is necessary for successful execution of most manual assembly tasks, the ability of the human is hindered in some cases, such as the assembly of heavy parts of small/medium lots or prototypes. In such a case of manual as...

Towards Measurement of Interaction Quality in Social Robotic Telepresence

This paper presents tools for measuring the quality of interaction in social mobile robotic telepresence. The methodology is in part based on Adam Kendon’s theory of Fformations. The theory is based on observations of how bodies naturally orient themselves during interaction between people in real life settings. In addition, two presence questionnaires (Temple Presence Inventory and Networked M...
